About

A Musical Journey

Jimmy Roca is a multi instrumentalist who has been playing music for over 25 years. The guitar is what first attracted him to music and has been his focus, and strength, since the age of 10. Even though he spent countless hours honing his guitar skills, he also never stopped singing. And without any training, has developed his vocal abilities into a force of itself.

After High School, he wanted to take a year off of school to refocus and figure out what he wanted to do with his life, but eventually caved to the pressures of modern society and applied to, and attended, West Chester University. After one year he dropped out and moved to Philadelphia with some musician friends.

After a few years in Philly, and playing in a couple bands in the underground rock scene that was booming at the time, Jimmy decided he wanted to move out west, so he moved to Arizona.

He spent about 10 years in the Phoenix area of the Sonoran Desert. Working regular jobs while also developing his skills toward a solo career. He did eventually start a band called Heavy Steps, which began to make some noise in the local scene as a progressive/experimental rock band. But unfortunately, due to members relocating and a few line up changes the band was short lived. However, it did lead to an opportunity for Jimmy to work with Scattered Melodies on their concept album called "Patterns" which was released in 2018 and can be found on all major streaming platforms. Eventually he was able to build up his reputation enough in the area to support himself with just music and hasn't worked a "regular" job since.

In recent years, Jimmy has adopted a bit of a nomadic lifestyle, traveling the country playing music either solo, or filling in for bands who need somebody. He is also a self taught engineer who freelances music. He is currently located in Myrtle Beach, SC, and has quickly joined the ranks as a local favorite as well as a favorite among tourists.
